As we've just gone live I thought this year it would be a good idea to stick some images up of the obstacle types that we are planning on delivering. These are mainly for the adult and teenagers run but there maybe some spill over into the junior course and we may do some scale down version for them.
So where do you begin? As always it’s as best to start with an assessment of where you currently are. This assessment should include cardio vascular element, strength elements and core stability as all of these things will come into play.
Before you can even decide what obstacles you're going to include you first need to find a site. Sounds simple but what you have to consider is whether the land you like the look of is available to use and whether it's suitable to house the peripheral considerations like access, car parking, toilets, catering, entrance/exit, utilities (running water or electricity) and possibly security if it's on public land.
Assault courses used to be solely associated with the Military getting their recruits fit for battle. Then in 1987 a light bulb moment happened which changed the course (excuse the pun!) of sport and fitness whereby it was introduced to the general public as an Obstacle Race.
